Depart your pick-up point and begin your day with morning tea along the tranquil banks of the Nepean River.
We then make our way to Penrith’s Museum of Fire, where a guided tour takes you through a vivid retelling of Australia’s firefighting history. Watch an introductory film and video displays before exploring the extensive collection of vintage fire engines, including the iconic 1891 ‘Big Ben’ steam engine, and interactive exhibits that bring the world of firefighting to life.
After an insightful morning, enjoy a hearty lunch at Penrith RSL Club.
In the afternoon, the tour continues to the remarkable Warragamba Dam. This vast water catchment, completed in 1960, supplies the majority of Sydney’s water and is an engineering marvel of its time. Learn about the dam’s history and significance while taking in panoramic views from the visitor centre and lookouts.
This well-balanced day combines history, heroism, and hydropower in one engaging journey.
