Step into the birthplace of Australian agriculture on the Macarthur Homesteads & Heritage Tour—a fascinating day exploring the iconic Belgenny Farm and its rich farming history.
Nestled in the heart of the Macarthur region, Belgenny Farm offers visitors a chance to discover Australia’s oldest set of intact farm buildings. Originally granted to John Macarthur in 1805, this remarkable property was managed by John and his wife Elizabeth, whose innovative farming methods shaped the early wool industry and agricultural landscape of Australia.
Set among beautiful green spaces, this guided walking tour is the ideal way to experience the history and charm of Belgenny Farm. The tour is tailored to your group’s needs and abilities, providing access to all areas of the site.
Your knowledgeable guide will lead you through the largest and most intact group of Georgian farm buildings in Australia, sharing captivating stories of the Macarthur family and their pioneering contributions to agriculture. Highlights include the Museum (the cottage where John Macarthur spent his final days), Tea Rooms, Creamery, Community Hall, Carpenter’s Shed, Slaughter House, Old Mill, and Shearing Shed. You’ll also explore smaller spaces such as the old washing room and displays within the stables.
After the tour, enjoy a hearty roast lunch at Campbelltown Catholic Club*
Belgenny Farm offers a rare glimpse into Australia’s rural past and remains a peaceful, educational destination in what is now one of NSW’s fastest-growing regions—just over an hour from Sydney CBD.
*Please note tea and coffee station cannot be included, in line with the lunch venue’s policy.
