Departing your chosen pick-up point, we travel north to the Central Coast for morning tea at Budgewoi, a peaceful lakeside village known for its tranquil setting and birdlife.

We then continue along the scenic lake route, passing through Rathmines, once home to a major WWII Flying Boat Base. Enjoy glimpses of beautiful Lake Macquarie as we make our way to Wangi Wangi.

Here, we stop for a relaxing lunch at the Wangi District Workers Club, located right on the water’s edge, offering panoramic views of Australia’s largest saltwater lake.

In the afternoon, we visit the iconic Dobell House, once the home and studio of renowned Australian portrait artist Sir William Dobell. Upon arrival, guests will enjoy a 10-minute introductory presentation in the front room, where views of the lake inspired many of Dobell’s works.

Following the talk, guests will have free time to explore the home at their leisure, viewing artworks, personal artefacts, and informative displays that showcase Dobell’s life and achievements. Wander through the rooms where he lived and painted, and take in the peaceful setting that shaped his creative legacy.
