Step aboard the M.V. Tom Thumb III and retrace the journey of Bass and Flinders—explorers who, in 1796, discovered Port Hacking in the Tom Thumb II, an 8ft rowing boat, spending three days mapping its waters. On this three-hour cruise, you’ll explore the same unspoiled waterways they charted, from the upper reaches of the Hacking River, with its secluded bays and inlets, down to the open expanses of Port Hacking and Bate Bay.

Enjoy breathtaking views of the Royal National Park, which borders the southern shoreline, while learning about the area’s fascinating history. Your commentary will cover early European exploration, historical settlements, deer farming in the park, and the state’s first fish hatchery. You’ll also pass Aboriginal heritage sites, discovering the meanings behind their names, as well as cruising by some of Sydney’s most magnificent waterfront properties.

Morning tea is served on board, and the vessel is fully licensed with a BYO option. Two toilets are available onboard (not wheelchair accessible).

After the cruise, enjoy a relaxed lunch at Cronulla RSL*, taking in the coastal views.
