Day 1 Journey to Wagga Wagga

Join your air-conditioned Coach for your relaxing journey to Wagga Wagga.  A Morning tea break normally provided at the Sutton Forest Service centre where you can buy a snack & a coffee, followed by lunch provided in Yass before arriving in Wagga Wagga mid-afternoon. This afternoon you will be warmly welcomed at the Quality Rules Hotel. The hotel provides luxurious air-conditioned accommodation. Dinner & breakfast is provided in the on-site Restaurant. Day 2 The High Country: Tumbarumba, Batlow & Tumut

This morning includes a visit along with a special morning tea to the historic Montreal Theatre in Tumut. The Montreal Theatre opened on April 2, 1930. The Montreal is an almost intact example of a 1920’s picture theatre & in 2000 the Theatre was listed with the N.S.W. National Trust. Enjoy a talk & tour with a short viewing this morning at this historic venue. After lunch we visit the famous Tumut River Millet Brooms factory. The millet is locally produced & the brooms are manufactured on the property. Tumut is at the foothills of the Snowy Mountains and is referred to as the gateway to the Snowy Mountains Scheme. This region abounds with spectacular scenery with some of the best country drives through the mountains, beside rivers & lakes & into the lush green valleys. (L,D)

Day 3 Wagga Wagga local day

Straddling the Murrumbidgee River, Wagga Wagga is NSW’s largest inland city and is an important agricultural, military, and transport hub of Australia. It is midway between the two largest cities in Australia, Sydney and Melbourne, & is the major regional centre for the Riverina. Surrounded by stunning countryside it is a vibrant & modern country centre. Enjoy an informative guided tour of Wagga Wagga followed by a tour and morning tea at Bidgee Strawberries & then a visit to Borambola Wines, a family-owned business, specialising in 100% locally grown and produced beer and wine including, red, white, sparkling, Tuckerbox Hoppy Lager beer and apple cider.  Enjoy a wine tasting over lunch. Borambola wines is subject to their availability. Later this afternoon is a free choice & the coach will drop off & pick up at several locations so you can choose to visit more of the local attractions, the shops or relax at the hotel. (B,L,D)

Day 4 Cootamundra & Junee

First stop today is Cootamundra, the birthplace of Sir Donald Bradman where you will visit Bradman’s Birthplace Museum before time for a stroll down the Captains Walk. Unique to Cootamundra, the Captains Walk features 42 bronze sculptures of Australian Test Cricket Captains, along with Unaarrimim the leading Aboriginal player in the first Australian cricket team to tour England in 1868. Cootamundra has strong connections with two Australian test cricket captains, being the birthplace of Sir Donald Bradman and a former home of Bill Murdoch. Their careers led to a special interest in cricket among the people of Cootamundra, which still prevails, with Cootamundra boasting nine cricket ovals with three turf wickets. From Cootamundra continue onto Junee’s impressive award-winning Organic Liquorice & Chocolate factory. Junee Liquorice & Chocolate factory is located at the restored Junee Flour Mill, built in 1935. The factory produces an expanding range of innovative, certified organic confectionaries. Tour the factory & watch the production of liquorice & chocolate coating of all organic products. Day 5 Temora

Take a step back in time this morning at the Rural Museum in Temora. Almost a hectare of diverse exhibitions illustrates the local farming, mining, industrial & social activities of the past. The Museum includes Don Bradman’s first slab hut home relocated to this site. Although born in nearby Cootamundra in the little Hospital visited yesterday, he spent the first 2 years in the slab cottage on their farm near Yeo siding & this has been relocated to Temora. The Ambulance Station is another highlight with a restored collection of Ambulances & equipment donated from Ambulance Stations all over NSW. You are sure to be surprised by the unique & fascinating collection at the Rural Museum today. Lunch will be provided in Temora before a visit to the Temora Vintage Aviation Museum. The Museum displays ex-military aircraft, which have a historical significance to Australia. What makes the collection unique is that the aircraft are maintained in airworthy condition and are flown on a regular basis. The Museum features photographic and audio-visual displays on aircraft, aircrew, and the magic of flight. The theatrette plays documentaries featuring rare wartime footage, giving visitors some insight of what it is like to fly in these aircraft. It is a unique collection. (B,L,D)

Day 6 Homeward Bound
