Day 1- To Griffith
Board your coach at the designated departure point this morning and begin your journey south. Enjoy a refreshing morning tea break along the way as you take in the scenic countryside. You will then arrive in Murrumburrah, where a delicious lunch is provided along the Burley Griffin Way. After lunch, your journey continues on to Griffith, where you will be warmly welcomed at the Griffith Motor Inn. Day 2- The Riverina via the Hay Plains & Balranald to Mildura
This morning, as you head west, the landscape transforms from lush, irrigated farmlands to the drier regions surrounding Hay. Along the way, you’ll pause for a morning tea break amidst this striking change. Next, you’ll traverse the famous Hay plains, where expansive cattle and sheep properties mingle with vast stretches of rice paddies, before arriving in Balranald for a provided lunch. This afternoon, your journey continues as you are warmly welcomed at Chaffey International, where you will be accommodated for the next two nights. Day 3- Wentworth & Mildura
Begin your day in the historic Wentworth, a town situated at the confluence of the Darling and Murray Rivers. On a brief coach tour, you’ll discover a town steeped in history, where gracious buildings—such as the Anglican Church, the Post Office, the original Customs Officer’s House, and the Old Wentworth Gaol built in 1881—stand as proud reminders of its grand past. Next, board the Rothbury Paddle Vessel for your relaxing Murray River Cruise. You’ll relive the sights and sounds of the pioneering era as you glide past the working river locks, all while enjoying a light lunch on board. Once the cruise concludes, board your coach for a visit to Woodsies Famous Gem Shop. What began as a family hobby has grown into a unique tourist attraction, showcasing exquisite jewellery and an impressive collection of unique gemstones and minerals, including many of the world’s lesser-known varieties. Then, visit the state-of-the-art Mildura Information Centre, where an excellent audio-visual presentation provides a fascinating insight into the history of Mildura, the legacy of the Chaffey Brothers, and the early European settlement of the region. Day 4- Menindee Lakes & Broken Hill
This morning, begin your journey along the 296-kilometre Silver City Highway towards Broken Hill, a route that unfolds through wide open outback landscapes rich in colour, history, and quiet beauty. En route, enjoy a relaxed breakfast stop in Pooncarie before continuing deeper into the far west. The journey then leads to the spectacular Menindee Lakes Lookout, where a remarkable inland system of nine expansive, shallow lakes stretches across the landscape. Held by a network of weirs, levees, and channels, this extraordinary oasis supports more than 220,000 waterbirds, along with a diverse range of aquatic and terrestrial species, including several that are threatened. Beyond its natural significance, the Menindee Lakes system holds deep environmental, cultural, and social importance, while also offering valuable recreational and tourism opportunities for the region. Continuing onward, arrive in Broken Hill, often described as a living, breathing time capsule in the desert. Here, lunch is enjoyed at the iconic Palace Hotel Broken Hill, a landmark made famous by the film The Adventures of Priscilla, Queen of the Desert. With its ornate interiors and colourful history, it provides a quintessential Broken Hill experience. After lunch, a local guide joins the journey for an engaging tour of the city. Discover a striking contrast of architecture as Broken Hill reveals itself through time—from modest miners’ cottages to grand stone buildings and elegant art deco facades. This is a town shaped by resilience and reinvention, where fortunes were made and lost in cycles of mining booms and busts. Its legacy is inseparable from the Broken Hill Proprietary Company, founded here and later evolving into today’s global mining powerhouse BHP. Distinct among New South Wales destinations, Broken Hill operates on Australian Central Standard Time, reflecting its close ties with South Australia and the Northern Territory due to its remote outback location—over 1,100 kilometres from Sydney and around 500 kilometres from Adelaide. We begin the day at the Royal Flying Doctor Service base, where you’ll gain a fascinating insight into one of Australia’s most iconic and vital outback services. Tour the facility, view the aircraft up close, and explore the museum and theatre, where a short film presentation brings to life the pioneering history of remote medical care across inland Australia. From here, continue into Broken Hill’s rich cultural landscape with a visit to the Pro Hart Gallery. Born in Broken Hill in 1928, Pro Hart spent his early childhood on “Larloona,” a sheep station around 130 kilometres from town, before developing his artistic talent at a young age. His creativity evolved alongside a demanding working life in the mines, where long underground shifts never dimmed his artistic drive. Though once dismissed by the so-called “art mafia,” his work ultimately achieved worldwide acclaim, admired by royalty, world leaders, and film stars alike. Despite this success, Hart remained a humble and grounded character, preferring the company of his mates and his community. His work powerfully reflects the spirit, resilience, and rugged beauty of Broken Hill, and the gallery stands as a lasting celebration of his remarkable legacy. This afternoon, your journey continues to the nearby ghost town of Silverton, often referred to as the Hollywood of the outback. With its striking blood-red earth, picture-perfect sunsets, and solitary stone buildings, Silverton has provided the dramatic backdrop for films such as Mission Impossible 2, Priscilla Queen of the Desert, Mad Max 2, Razorback, and A Town Like Alice, along with countless commercials. Lunch will be provided at the famed Silverton Hotel, an iconic establishment that has preserved its laid-back country charm while becoming one of the most photographed pubs in the nation. Just five kilometres from Silverton, you will visit the Mundi Mundi Plains Lookout, where you can marvel at the sensation of standing on the edge of the world as endless flatlands stretch out before you. Enjoy some relaxation time at your accommodation this afternoon before your adventure continues tomorrow.  (B,L,D)

Day 6 – White Cliffs
Today your scenic adventure continues after an early start, even with the 30-minute time loss due to the time change. You are about to travel to a landscape like no other—the lunar-like diorama of the opal mining town of White Cliffs. Upon arrival, you’ll enjoy a delicious lunch before rejoining the coach for a guided tour led by one of the area’s fascinating locals. This tour will prepare you for an extraordinary experience: going underground into a real opal mine. Afterward, you’ll have the chance to browse for that special gift to commemorate your visit. Then, it’s time to check in to your unique accommodation for the night—the White Cliffs Underground Motel. Here, you’ll experience the novelty of staying in a hotel room fashioned entirely from rock, a truly memorable experience. Day 8- Dubbo to Sydney
Today your Coach continues south-east through some marvellous farming countryside & a huge contrast to the day before with a morning tea stop followed by lunch provided in Lithgow. This afternoon your journey home continues through the Blue Mountains, hopefully filled with wonderful new memories of your journey through the magnificent Outback.
